Scanning
Scanning in RasterDesk is performed using the WiseScan LE module, which is a comprehensive system designed to work with large-format monochrome and color scanners. The scanner is controlled at the hardware level or using the TWAIN interface.

Monochrome filtering
Monochrome filters are used to process monochrome images. The use of filters can significantly improve the quality of images and reduce the size of raster files.

Geometric Correction
RasterDesk allows you to adjust various geometric parameters of the bitmap.    
With the help of geometric correction tools you can:
- bring the image to the specified sheet size;
- scale the image and change its resolution;
- crop the image;
- correct the skew;
- flip the image relative to the vertical or horizontal axis;
- rotate the image at an arbitrary angle;
- correct trapezoid, parallelogram and projective image distortions using four-point correction.

Calibration
Calibration is used to eliminate arbitrary (linear and non-linear) distortion of raster images of any type: monochrome, halftone and color. This operation is most often used to correct the errors of geodetic plans and maps in raster format. With the help of calibration, you can correct scanning errors and distortions caused by the deformation of the original graphic materials.

When preparing the calibration, it is necessary to specify the vectors of displacement of the raster points. For this, a set of calibration pairs is specified. Each pair of such a set consists of two points whose coordinates determine the current position of the point on the image (measured point) and its required theoretical position (real point).

Gauge pairs are created in two ways: by adding one by one or by specifying a calibration grid.
Color correction and color filtering
RasterDesk contains the following procedures for color correction and filtering bitmaps:
- conversion to RGB, halftone and 8-bit images;
- Binarization - the procedure for creating monochrome images from color by color or threshold separation;
- adaptive binarization - binarization of images of grayscale, having a heterogeneous background (blue, sepia);
- change in brightness, contrast, hue and saturation;
- histogram correction - redistribution of brightness and contrast values ​​of the image;
- gamma correction;
- color palette editing;
- blur;
- contour sharpness;
- averaging.

Selecting and editing raster objects
The intellectual object technology of selection of raster data implemented in the program allows you to edit the raster image by methods similar to those used when working with vector objects in AutoCAD. 

Using RasterDesk, you can edit raster primitives, such as segments, arcs, circles, polylines , etc. Editing of raster objects is made by the same tools as editing vector objects in AutoCAD. Thus, the user of AutoCAD has the ability to make any changes to the bitmap image, using his usual tools for working with vector graphics. Hybrid editing of raster and vector graphics can significantly reduce the time and improve accuracy when making changes to a scanned document without vectorization.

The technology of hybrid (raster-vector) editing allows you to use the usual tools of precise positioning, such as object snapping, object and polar tracking. These modes work not only with vectors (as in AutoCAD), but also with raster primitives.

Rasterization
Rasterization is the process of translating vector graphics into a non-editable raster image.

RasterDesk has two methods for rasterizing vector objects:
- fast method in which the thickness of the resulting raster line can be set using the attribute Weight lines ;
- the exact method uses the capabilities of an AutoCAD adapted virtual printer and is more accurate.

Tracing, semi-automatic vectorization
Tracing is an interactive procedure that allows you to vectorize a raster image of any type, as well as smooth or delete objects of a monochrome raster image.

Tracing is based on the technology of local recognition of raster geometric primitives, with which the program identifies raster lines as a segment, arc, or circle and generates the corresponding vector objects.

- Tracing with automatic detection of the object type - the program automatically selects the type of vector object most suitable for approximation of the specified raster line.
- Forced tracing - allows tracing raster graphics by vector objects of a given type (segments, arcs, polylines, circles, symbols, hatching).

RasterDesk has four monochrome bitmap tracing modes:
- Create vector and remove raster ;
- Create vector and save raster ;
- Remove raster ;
- Smooth raster .

In the Smooth raster mode, tracing removes parts of the raster line, creates an approximating vector, and then automatically rasterizes it. Thus, the Smooth raster mode allows you to replace raster lines with smoothed lines, thereby improving the quality of raster lines in the image.

Correction of vectorization results
The vector objects obtained as a result of automatic vectorization of low-quality raster images, as a rule, require additional correction. Correction is necessary if after recognizing such objects as a line, a circle, an arc and a polyline, there are many separate fragment vectors (for example, several linear segments instead of a line, many arcs instead of a raster circle, many arcs and lines instead of a polyline. .d.)

The tools presented in RasterDesk Pro, you can adjust the vectors and polylines in automatic mode:
- restore the contacts of arcs and circles among themselves;
- “Glue” vector fragments into a whole object;
- remove vector objects smaller than the specified size (the size of the line is determined by its length, the size of the circle is the diameter, the size of the arc is the largest projection on the X and Y axes);
- align the lines to standard directions (angles 0 °, 30 °, 45 °, 60 °, 90 ° , etc.) if their deviations do not exceed the value specified by the user.

In interactive mode, the program allows you to:
- merge polylines broken at intersections;
- edit texts recognized during automatic vectoring;
- teach the program to recognize new letters, numbers, punctuation marks and special characters;
- search and replace raster and vector objects.

Automatic vector correction is intended for automatic adjustment of vector objects (lines, arcs and circles) obtained as a result of automatic and semi-automatic vectorization (tracing).

Automatic correction of polylines is intended for automatic editing of polylines obtained as a result of vectorization or tracing. With automatic correction of polylines, you can merge, delete or merge polylines, delete small segments, combine common borders, etc.

The Collect To Polyline command is intended for uniting closed vector objects into a polyline in interactive mode.

Search and replace raster and vector objects
The search and replace operation allows you to find objects of monochrome raster images, as well as sets of vector objects and replace them with any vector or raster objects.

As a sample for the search, both raster data and vector objects can be used. The command allows you to search for sets of vector objects that make up symbols similar to a given vector pattern.

Integration with the NormaCS regulatory system information system
For a vector text or a recognized raster fragment of text in the RasterDesk 10 program, you can search for a normative document in the NormaCS information system. If the document you are looking for is replaced by a newer one, then it is possible to replace the text in RasterDesk with the designation or number of the replaced document.
